Comprehensive Eye Exam

Regardless of your age or physical health, it's important to have regular eye exams. A comprehensive eye exam includes a number of tests and procedures from which our doctors examine and evaluate the health of your eye and quality of your vision. It is like a physical for your eyes.

A great deal about your general health can be determined just by examining your eyes. Our eye doctors might be the first to diagnose a medical condition because the first signs may appear in the eye. The eye is the only place in the human body where part of your central nervous system is visible. In fact, when the doctor observes the retina and optic nerve during an exam, they are actually looking at extensions of the brain!

Our goal is for you to have clear vision and health eyes!

What a comprehensive eye exam entails:

Vision Evaluation

Our professionally trained staff and doctors administer a series of tests and procedures to evaluate your vision:
  • Eye Pressure Test
  • Color Vision Test
  • VisualFieldTest(peripheral vision)
  • VisualAcuity(sharpnessofvision)
  • OcularMotility(movement&alignment of eyes)
  • Stereopsis(depth perception)
  • Refraction

As a result of the exam our doctors will write a prescription for eyeglasses if needed. (For contact lens prescriptions, a contact lens exam needs to be scheduled as part of the exam).

We evaluate, treat or co-manage other vision concerns, such as:
  • Digital Eye Strain (also known as Computer Vision Syndrome)
  • LASIK and other vision correction surgeries (to learn more click below).
LASIK & ICL

Eye Health Evaluation

Our doctors examine the internal and external parts of the eye in detail to evaluate the eyes for signs of:
  • Macular Degeneration
  • Cataracts
  • Dry Eye Syndrome
  • Retinal detachment
  • Glaucoma
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes

Dilation & Retinal Imaging

During your exam, our doctors may decide to do a dilated eye exam or use retinal imagining.

To dilate your eyes, the doctor will instill dilating drops in the eye which will enlarge the pupil to give the doctor a better look at the back of the eye.

The doctor may use retinal imaging as an alternative or in addition to dilation. Please click on the Retinal Imaging button to learn more.
