Ocular Disease & Condition ManagementDry Eye Treatment: Dry eye is a condition in which a person doesn't have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye. Tears are necessary for maintaining the health of the front surface of the eye and for providing clear vision. Dry eye is a common and often chronic problem, particularly in older adults. Dry eyes can occur when tear production and drainage is not in balance. People with dry eyes either do not produce enough tears or their tears are of a poor quality. Treatments for dry eyes aim to restore or maintain the normal amount of tears in the eye to minimize dryness and related discomfort and to maintain eye health. Your Dry Eye treatment needs to be specific to the type of dry eye you have.
Cataract surgery co-management: Cataracts is a disease that results in the clouding of the lens of the eyeball. It prevents clear images from appearing on the eye’s retina; causing mild, moderate, even severe blurred vision. Cataracts generally occur later in life as the lens structure within the human eye changes and gets older. Cataracts are the most common cause of vision loss in people over age 40 and is the principal cause of blindness in the world. Today, cataracts affect more than 22 million Americans age 40 and older. During the evaluation of your eye health we will carefully examine your lens for signs of cataract formation. If a cataract is noticed and the clouding is causing visual disruption, our doctors will refer you to a trusted and respected surgeon for surgery, which is the only known cure for cataracts. Our doctors will co-manage the procedure and will be there for you providing pre-op and post-op cataract surgery care. |
